I actually did the test to see if this in fact is Damascus, and the blade is, but the handle is not. I sanded down the metal on one side of one blade then polished that side, then put drain cleaner acid on that side for a minute and the Damascus pattern came back. The blades are thin and very very very sharp. There were a few chips in a few blades but they were very small, and not in an area that requires immediate resharpening. Also the fact that there are tiny chips on a few spots is proof these blades have a high hardness and were tempered. Overall these are a good value, and i am happy with my knives and my wife was happy with them even before she knew they were real damascus.

Can't speak for longevity as I've barely used them but with proper care and use I don't believe it will be an issue. They are indeed real damascus,They are extremely sharp right out of the box and beautiful to look at. I couldn't be happier with them. Don't abuse them and care for them properly and they should last a lifetime.

I have only had them for a week but so far they are excellent. Weighted great and all around good feel, also they are very sharp.

I have been looking for a reasonably priced but quality knife set and this really fits the bill. I'm very impressed with the weight, balance, and sharpness of these knives. I would recommend these knives to anyone looking for a good set.

This was an anniversary gift for my wife. I wanted to get a good set of knives that are sharp. They are exactly that, replacing a 15 year old set of Chicago Cutlery.
